Services
Sunday
Evenings at 5:00pm
Divine
Service
The Chief Service of
the Week. We gather together to
receive God's Gifts of Word and Sacrament.
The readings and theme of the service are
those appointed for each Sunday of the
Church Year. We use the liturgies and
hymns of The Lutheran Service Book in
our worship. Organ and piano accompany
the congregation.
Wednesday
Mornings at 7:30am
Morning
Prayer
A Short Service of
Prayer. We gather together in the
morning to focus our day upon God's Word.
We confess the Creed, pray the Lord's Prayer
and other Psalms, and listen to God's Word.
Thursday Evenings at 7:00pm
Mid-Week
Service
A Short Service of
Prayer and Preaching. We gather
together in the evening to hear the Word of
God. The readings and sermon will
vary, depending upon the time of the Church
Year. For the first 11 weeks of the
academic year, we will be going through the
articles of the Formula of Concord (one of
our Lutheran Confessions). We rotate
between the liturgies of Evening Prayer,
Vespers, and Compline, sung to piano.
Bible Studies
Sunday Evenings at 6:15pm
"Jesus Christ
in the Old Testament"
This year we will take
a look at the different "Sunday School
Stories" from the Torah (i.e. the first five
books of the Old Testament), and see how
Christ is found in all of Scripture.
We may think we know these stories fairly
well, but there is a wealth of knowledge to
unpack from them.
Wednesday
Mornings at 6:30am
"A Book of the
Bible"
This fall, we will be
taking a look through "Ecclesiastes", and
discussing the wisdom of King Solomon as he
looked back on his life, trying to find the
meaning of it all.
Thursday
Evenings at 6:00pm
"What the
Bible Says About..."
Each week we will take
a look at a different topic from the Bible,
ranging from "Our Anxieties" to "False
Prophets" to "The Gospel". We will
look at what the Bible says about this
topic, and hot its teaching penetrates into
our daily lives. |
