Pastor Burhop
was born in Lansing, Michigan just after his
father was placed in his first parish, St.
Paul in Fowler, MI. In January of 1988,
they moved to Drummond Island in the Upper
Peninsula where his father was called as a
mission planter for the eastern tip of the
UP. They moved to Kincheloe when he was in
5th grade. He graduated from high school in
1999. He then attended Concordia
University, Ann Arbor to run cross-country
and to get a degree in secondary education.
During his first
year at Concordia, he switched out of
education and into the pre-seminary
program. He also met his future wife,
Heather, and they were married on June 14,
2003.
After graduation
from Concordia, Daniel and Heather moved to
Fort Wayne so that Daniel could attend the
seminary. His vicarage was spent in
Brookings, South Dakota, where he served as
the campus pastor for South Dakota State
University. Dan and Heather enjoyed getting
to know the students through Bible Studies,
retreats, fellowship events, and a mission
trip to New Orleans. During their final
year at seminary, their first child, Abigail
Anne, was born on March 5th. Pastor Burhop
was ordained June 24th, 2007 in Huntington
Woods Lutheran Church in Huntington Woods,
MI.
Pastor Burhop
and his wife look forward to serving at the
University Lutheran Chapel and to meeting
all of the students that attend here. He
has a lot of enthusiasm for campus ministry
and we at ULC are thankful for their
placement in our community.
Administrative Assistant Doris Koepke

Doris Koepke is
the Secretary at University Lutheran
Chapel. Doris's connection to the Chapel
goes back many years. In 1980, Doris and
her husband, Galen, became the custodian
residents for the Chapel. During this
position of six years, two of their
children, Hoyt and Lucas, were born and were
baptized at the Chapel. Their third child,
Heidi, was born after they moved to rural
Boulder County. When Hoyt began attending
the University of Colorado, the family once
again began attending the Lutheran Chapel.
When the youngest began at CU, and the
secretary's position became available, Doris
transitioned back into the "working world".
